Recap of the Senior PGA Professional Championship-
Riverside, Iowa – Eight Iowa PGA Members competed on October 26-29, 2023 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Tracy Vest of Lake House Sports, Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf, Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Course, Bryan Luedtke of Bunker Links Golf Course, Todd Fowler of Golf Galaxy – Davenport, Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club, Steve Charters of Twin Pines Golf Course/Gardner Golf Course/City of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club will all compete.
***Round One***
Proehl in his first round he carded birdies on holes 1, 4, 8, 13 and 17 including bogeys on holes 7 and 9 which placed him T7th place. His first-round total score was 68 3-under-par.
Schmid in his first round he carded birdies on holes 3 and 9; an eagle on hole 7 including bogeys on holes 2, 16 and 17 which placed him T23rd place. His first-round total score was 71 1-under-par.
Gibb in his first round he carded birdies on holes 2, 5, 12, 17 and 18; bogeys on holes 10,13, 14 and 16 including a double bogey on hole 15 which placed him T79th place. His first-round total score was 73 2-over-par.
Luedtke in his first round he carded birdies on holes 3 and 7; bogeys on holes 1, 12 and 17 including double bogeys on holes 13 which placed him T103rd place. His first-round total score was 75 3-over-par.
McCarty in his first round he carded birdies on holes 7, 8, 13 and 16; bogeys on holes 1, 4, 5, 10, 12 and 14 including a double bogey on hole 18 which placed him T127th place. His first-round total score was 76 4-over-par.
Charters in his first round he carded a birdie on hole 4; bogeys on holes 13 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 1 and 11 which placed him T161st place. His first-round total score was 77 5-over-par.
Vest in his first round he carded a birdie on hole 1; bogeys on holes 10, 11, 13 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 13 which placed him T161st place. His first-round total score was 77 5-over-par.
Fowler in his first round he carded a birdie on hole 5; bogeys on holes 4, 6, 8, 10 and 15 including double bogeys on holes 2, 11 and 18 which placed him T236thst place. His first-round total score was 82 10-over-par.
***Round Two***
Proehl in his second round he carded birdies on holes 4 and 10 including 3 and 18 which placed him T8th place. His second-round total score was 72 E-under-par.
Schmid in his second round he carded birdies on holes 6, 10, 11 and 15 including a double bogey on 2 which placed him T8th place. His second-round total score was 69 2-under-par.
McCarty in his second round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 6 and 17; an eagle on 4; bogeys 10 and 18 including a double bogey on 12 which placed him T42nd place. His second-round total score was 69 2-under-par.
Luedtke in his second round he carded birdies on holes 4 and 8 including bogeys on holes 7 and 11 which placed him T61st place. His second-round total score was 71 E-under-par.
Vest in his second round he carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 4, 6 and 13; bogeys on holes 6 and 18 including a double bogey on 9 which placed him T74th place. His second-round total score was 70 1-under-par.
Gibb, Fowler and Charters missed the Cut-low 90 players & ties.
Gibb in his second round he carded birdies on holes 9 and 14; bogeys on 6, 10 and 17 including a double bogey on hole 3. His two-day total rounds was 73-75=148, 5-over-par.
Fowler in his second round he carded a birdie on 18 including bogeys on holes 5, 6, 9, 11, 14 and 17. His two-day total rounds was 82-76=158, 15-over-par.
Charters in his second round he carded a birdie on 10; bogeys on holes 2, 4, 9, 11, 12, 14 and 17 including double bogeys on holes 3 and 7. His two-day total rounds was 77-81=158, 15-over-par.
***Round Three***
Proehl in his third round he carded birdies on holes 13, 16 and 18 including bogeys on holes 3, 5, 11, 12 and 17 which placed him T11 place. His third-round total score was 74 2-over-par.
Schmid in his third round he carded a birdie on hole 13; bogeys on holes 1, 3 and 9 including a double bogey on hole 16 which placed him T18 place. His third-round total score was 76 4-over-par.
McCarty in his third round he carded birdies on holes 1, 7 and 16; bogeys on holes 3 and 17 including a double bogey on hole 16. His third-round total score was 73 1-over-par.
Luedtke and Vest missed the Cut-low 70 players & ties.
Luedkte in his third round he carded a birdie on hole 10 including bogeys on holes 2, 6, 9, 11, 12, 17 and 18. His three-day total score was 75-71-78=224, 9-over-par.
Vest in his third round he carded a birdie on hole 7; bogeys on holes 2, 9, 10, 13 and 17 including a double bogey on hole 12. His three-day total score was 77-70-78=225, 10-over-par.
***Final Round***
Schmid in his final round he carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 13, 16 and 17; an eagle on hole 7 including bogeys on holes 14, 15 and 18. His four-day total scores was 71-69-76-68=284, 3-under-par and finished in 6th place.
Proehl in his final round he carded a birdies on hole 7 including bogeys on holes 6 and 15. His four-day total scores was 68-72-74-74=288, 1-over-par and finished T13th place.
McCarty in his final round he carded birdies on holes 2, 7, 9, 15 and 16; bogeys on holes 1, 8 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 12. His four-day total scores was 76-69-73-72=290, 3-over-par and finished T26th place.
Schmid, Proehl and McCarty are part of the corebridge financial PGA Team Top 35 that will compete in the 2024 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship to be held on May 23-26, 2024 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
