Iowa PGA Pro-Junior Team Results-
Waterloo, Iowa – Winners crowned in the Iowa PGA Pro-Junior played on July 24, 2023, at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo, Iowa. Teams for Iowa PGA Pro-Junior were comprised of one Professional and three Juniors amateurs competing in an 18-Hole, Individual Low Pro and Team 2 Best balls of 4 gross.
Senior Boys Team Division-
Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club and his team of Jack McCarty, Ryder Laing and McGavin Smith; Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Club and his team of Carter Madison, Finn Garton and Grant Jansen all tied for first place in the Senior Boys Team Division (ages 14-17) with a team total of 15-under-par 129. Tracy Vest of Lake House Sports and his team of Jack Moreland, Owen Larson and Will Stoakes finished behind them in third place with a 8-under-par 136. Senior Girls Team Division-
Chris Black of Hickory Grove Golf Course and his team of Grace Lewis, Grace Bug and Hannah Fitzpatrick won the Senior Girls Team Division (ages 14-17) with a team total of 6-under-par 138. Todd Hajduk of TPC Deere Run and his team of Grace Hajduk and Mia Harris finished second in the Senior Girls Team Division with a team total of 18-over-par 162. Junior Boys Team Division-
John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course and his team of Max Mud, Michael Grady and Logan Le won the Junior Boys Division (ages 13 & Under) with a team total of 3-over-par 147. Nate Lubs of Gates Park Golf Course and his team of Bear Ott, Brayden Powers and Calvin Brenden finished in second in the Junior Boys Team Division with a 5-over-par 149. Michael Schrempf of Vinton Country Club and his team of Jax Elwick, Connor Fitzgerald and Nash Davis finished behind them in third place with a 11-over-par 155. Junior Girls Team Division-
Brian Wernimont of Brown Deer Golf Club and his team of Hayzel Wernimont, Yuzuka Fujikawa and Kristy Kakizawa won the Junior Girls Division (ages 13 & Under) with a team total of 41-over-par 185. Click here to view full Junior Girls Division results.
In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Pro-Junior featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
Black and McCarty both tied for first place in the Open Division & Senior Division both turned in 9-under-par 63.
Bermel took home first place in the Super Senior Division with a 6-under-par 66. Bermel carded birdies on holes 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 18 including a bogey on hole 14. Runner-up in the Super Senior Division Jeff Smith of Harvest Point Golf Course turned in a 1-under-par 71.
