PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Nov. 3, 2017) – David Schneider, PGA General Manager and Chief Operating Officer at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, has joined the PGA Board of Directors as District 8 Director. Schneider was elected to the Board of Directors today at the 101st PGA Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. Schneider will serve a three-year term, representing the Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska PGA Sections. A PGA Member since 1996, Schneider has a long history of volunteering his time, while serving in governance and leadership positions at the Section level. Currently, he is the Honorary President of the Iowa PGA Section. Schneider first assumed his leadership position as an Officer at the Section level in 2008, where he served as Secretary, followed by stints as Vice President and President. “It’s a tremendous honor to represent District 8, including the Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska Sections,” said Schneider. “I’m very passionate about assisting and growing the game, while serving the PGA Member. It is an incredible feeling to follow in the footsteps of the District 8 Directors who have served before me, such as Jeff Smith, Chris Thompson and Jeff Drimel.” Prior to his current position at Wakonda Club, which he began in 2005, Schneider worked in several capacities at prominent facilities across the country, highlighted by roles as the PGA Head Golf Professional at Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort in Galena, Illinois and Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; General Manager at Legend Trail Golf Club in Scottsdale; Director of Golf Operations at Waikoloa Beach Resort in Hawaii; and Ventana Golf & Racquet Club in Tucson, Arizona. Recognizing the importance of lifelong learning and education in order to stay ahead of the increasing demands of the industry, Schneider achieved Certified Club Manager (CCM) status with the Club Managers Association of America in 2016. He also has his sights on obtaining his Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation. Schneider, who graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, where he competed on the golf team, resides in Des Moines with his wife, Deb, and three children, Nic, Nathan and Colin. The PGA Board of Directors is composed of the Association’s President, Vice President, Secretary, Honorary President and 17 Directors. The Directors include representatives from each of the PGA’s 14 Districts, two Independent Directors and a member of the PGA Tour. New District Directors are elected by their local PGA Sections.
