2023 Stroke Play Championship – Round 1 Results-
Riverside, Iowa – Two of our Iowa PGA Professionals Davis Sutton of Cedar Rapids Country Club, Chris Black of Hickory Grove Golf Course and Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Course are competing in the Stroke Play Championship at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Sutton’s first round he carded a birdie on hole 13 including bogeys on holes 7, 10, 15 and 16. Sutton’s first round total 37-37=74 (+3), tied for 35th place going into the second round of play. His tee time for Monday, February 13 on the Wanamaker Course at 7:50 AM.
Black’s first round he carded birdies on holes 6 and 13; bogeys on holes 5, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 4 and 14. Black’s first round total 38-43=81 (+10), tied for 130th place going into the second round of play. His tee time for Monday, February 13 on the Wanamaker Course at 8:00 AM.
Proehl withdrew from the competition.
