The Iowa PGA Professional’s Wins 59th Iowa Cup Matches-
West Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Professional’s defeated the Iowa Golf Association 12.5 to 11.5 points in the 2026 59th Iowa Cup Matches at the Des Moines Golf & Country Club.
Four-Ball Matches – Tuesday, September 29, 2026
The morning started off with Four-Ball Matches. The Iowa PGA won two out right match with Iowa Golf Association with 2.0 to Iowa PGA 4.0. The first four Iowa PGA teams won their matches with Jay Giannetto and Darin Fisher defeating Jon Olson and Jon Brown, 3 & 2. Judd Gibb and Chris Black defeating Ron Peterson and JD Anderson, 4 & 3. Sean McCarty and Jeffrey Schimid defeated Hogan Hansen and Zach Christianson, 3 & 2. Matt Erger and Davis Sutton defeated Mike McCoy and Parker Rodgers, 2 & 1, giving the Iowa PGA points to start the tournament.
Chad Proehl and Jacob Bermel were defeated by Nate McCoy and Trent Lindenman, 1 up. Ryan McClintock and Ben Montgomery were defeated by Micah Moyer and Calen Bishop, 3 & 2. That helped the Iowa Golf Association with 2 points.
Foursome Matches – Tuesday, September 29, 2026
The afternoon session featured Foursome (Alternate Shot) matches. The Iowa PGA won 3.5 points and the Iowa Golf Association won 2.5 points in the Foursome Play. Matt Erger and Ryan McClintock defeated Jon Olson and Parker Rodgers, 4 & 3. Sean McCarty and Jay Giannetto defeated Jon Brown and Mike McCoy, 1 up. Chris Black and Ben Montgomery defeated Ron Peterson and Micah Moyer, 2 up.
The teams of Jeffrey Schmid and Darin Fisher, Judd Gibb and Chad Proehl all lost their PM Matches.
Davis Sutton and Jacob Bermel tied Trent Lindenman and Calen Bishop, all teams 0.05 points.
The Iowa PGA won 3.5 to Iowa Golf Association 2.5 Foursome Matches.
Singles Matches – Wednesday, September 30, 2026
Today’s Singles Matches included Jacob Bermel defeated Ron Peterson, 6 & 4. Ben Montgomery defeated Zach Christianson, 5 & 4. Jay Giannetto defeated Mike McCoy, 3 & 2.
The teams of Judd Gibb and Calen Bishop, Darin Fisher and Trent Lindenman, Chris Black and Parker Rodgers, Matt Erger and Jon Olson all teams tied for 0.05 points.
Chad Proehl, Sean McCarty, Jeffrey Schmid, Ryan McClintock and Davis Sutton all battled in their Single Matches but eventually lost.
The final score of the 2026 59th Iowa Cup Matches ended with the Iowa Golf Association (Amateurs) winning 7 points, while the Iowa PGA (Professionals) won 5 points.
