Teams Proehl and Black Tie for First Place at Team All Pro

Waterloo, IA – The team of Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Municipal GC, Bryan Luedtke of Bunker Links GC, Brian Lorenz of Spirit Hollow GC and Steve Smith of Hyperion Field Club and the team of Chris Black of Hickory Grove GC, Ty Stewart of Hyperion Field, Ken Schall of Ken Schall Performance Studio and Samuel Rice of Hyperion Field Club tied for first in the Team All Pro Monday, June 29, 2020 at Sunnyside Country Club.  The two teams tied with scores of 10-under-par 126.

Teams for Team All Pro were comprised of four Iowa PGA Professionals. 18-Hole Stroke Play, Team – 1 Best Ball of 4 on Par 5’s, 2 Best Balls of 4 on Par 4’s and 3 Best Balls of 4 on Par 3’s.

In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Team All Pro featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.

Darin Fisher of The Preserve on Rathbun Lake claimed first place in the Open Division with a 4-under-par 68. Fisher carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 6, 7 and 15 with a double birdie on hole number 11 including bogeys on holes 2, 14 and 17. Ben Montgomery of Airport National Golf used a Hole-In-One to card a 3-under-par round of 69.  Montgomery’s Ace happened on the Par-3, 192-yard 17th hole.  It was witnessed by Curt Schnell, Mike Downing and Matt Ruehling.

John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge GC won the Super Senior Division with a 1-under-par 71. Bermel carded birdies on holes 1, 2, 6, 9, 11 and 13 with bogeys on holes 4, 5 and 18 including a double bogey on hole number 12 in his win.  Judd Gibb of Lakeside Municipal Golf Course and Proehl finished in second place with even-par rounds of 72.

Larry Castagnoli and Schall tied for first place in the Super Senior Division with a 3-over-par 75. Castagnoli recorded birdies on holes 4 and 11 with 5 bogeys on holes 7, 9, 16, 17 and 18. Schall recorded birdies on holes 7, 9 and 12 with bogeys on holes 2, 11, 14 and 16 including a double bogey on hole number 6.

The Iowa PGA would also like to PGA General Manager Ben Biersner, Head PGA Professional Adam Squires and the entire Sunnyside staff for hosting this event.
