Team Erger Wins Pro-Senior
Muscatine, IA – Matt Erger of Airport National and his team of Jack Peacock, Gay Strunk and Roger Hallquist won the Pro-Senior Monday, September 21 at Geneva Golf & Country Club. Team Erger turned in 9 quota points to capture the win.
Teams for Pro-Senior were comprised of one Professional and three Senior Amateurs competing in a modified Stableford Scoring system.
The runner up team was Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club and his team of Ed Schmucker, Brian Donohoe and Derek Birt who turned in 5 quota points.
In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Pro-Senior featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club and McCarty tied for first place in the Open Division with an even-par round of 71.
Schmid took home first place in the Senior Division with an even-par round of 71. Schmid recorded birdies on holes 4 and 8 with bogeys on holes 6 and 12 including an eagle on hole 15 as well as a double bogey on hole 16. Larry Castagnoli, PGA Life Member carded a 2-over-par round of 73 to come in second place in the Senior Division.
Castagnoli won the Super Senior Division with a 2-over-par round of 73. Castagnoli carded birdies on holes 1, 4 and 9 with bogeys on holes 14, 15 and 18 including a double bogey on holes 10 in his win. Kevin DeNike of PGA Life Member carded an 11-over-par round 82 to come in second place in the Super Senior Division.
