Pella, Iowa – Davis Sutton of Ellis Park Golf Club holds a one-stroke lead over Brandon Megal at the National Car Rental Iowa Assistant PGA Championship after round one.
Sutton carded four birdies in round one, including two-in-a-row on Nos. 2-3 and Nos. 15-16. He added 11 pars in his round for a 1-under-par 71. Megal also tallied four birdies, including two-in-a-row on Nos. 2-3 and Nos. 11-12. Megal had three bogeys on the back nine to finish at even-par (72).
Ryan Sergeant and Jacob Bermel are T3 heading into the final round. Both Sergeant and Bermel carded 1-over-par 73 in the first round. Sergeant recorded three birdies on the front, including two-in-a-row on Nos. 2-3. Bermel carded a bogey-free front nine with one birdie. He added back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12-13 to finish with a 73.
The final round will begin with tee times off No.1 tomorrow starting at 8:00 a.m. The top two finishers will qualify for the 42nd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship on November 15-18 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Luice, Florida.
