Port St. Lucie, Florida – Iowa PGA Member, Jeff Schmid, continued his run in the 2018 PGA Tournament Series with a T11 finish at Event #4 on Tuesday. Event #4 marked Schmid’s third PGA Tournament Series appearance this Winter.
Schmid started the tournament with a 1-over-par 73 in the first round on Monday afternoon putting him in a tie for 12th. Schmid moved up one spot to finish T11 with a 4-over-par 76 in the final round for a tournament total, 5-over-par 149.
Matt Borchert of the North Florida PGA Section drained a 20-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to secure his victory over Bob Sowards. This finish marks the third event to go to a playoff in the PGA Tournament Series this year (Event #1, #3 and #4). The final round of the second event was cancelled due to weather. Sowards defeated Schmid and two others with a birdie on the final hole in Event #3 last week.
The second to last event of the 2018 PGA Tournament Series begins Thursday, December 13 on the Wanamker Course at the PGA Golf Club. Iowa PGA Member, Chris Black, will make his fifth straight appearance in the PGA Tournament Series on Thursday.
