CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Iowa PGA hosted the Pro-Junior event at Pheasant Ridge GC in Cedar Falls on Monday afternoon. Teams were comprised of one PGA Professional and three junior amateurs. 18-hole competition for Individual Low Pro and team two best balls of four gross score. Individual Open, Senior, and Super Senior Divisions for the PGA Professionals.

In the Open Division, Elmcrest CC’s Brian Johnson edged both Jacob and John Bermel on Monday afternoon. Johnson won the division by carding a 4-under-par 68 with a tournament-best six birdies. Jacob Bermel put on a display shooting three-under-par to finish second. His father, John Bermel claimed third place registering a final score of 70 to edge Chris Black (-2) and Sean McCarty (-2) for third.

In the Senior Division, John Bermel led the field by two strokes to capture the division title. Larry Castagnoli (E) and Stephen Hutton (+1) finished a close second and third respectively.

In the Super Senior Division, Castangoli’s even-par round 72 was good enough to claim the championship. Burlington’s Joe Butler shot three-over-par 75 to finish second and Jeff Smith carded a 5-over-par 77 to finish third.
