Proehl, Schmid Qualifier for Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship

Riverside, Iowa – Iowa PGA Members Chad Proehl and Jeff Schmid both advanced to the 2019 Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship on Sunday after finishing inside the top-35 at the 30th Senior PGA Professional Championship.

Schmid finished T7 at the 30th Senior PGA Professional Championship. He started his tournament on the Ryder Course carding a 2-under-par 70 in the first the round. He tallied his lowest round of the tournament in round two with a 3-under-par 69 on the Wanamaker Course. Schmid finished the first two rounds at T8 with a tournament total 5-under-par 139.

Schmid continued his success on the Wanamaker Course in rounds three and four. He carded a 2-under-par 70 in round three and finished his tournament with a 1-under-par 71 for tournament total 8-under-par 280, five strokes off the lead, to punch his ticket to the 2019 KitchenAid PGA Championship.

Proehl started the tournament on the Wanamaker Course, where he carded a 2-under-par 70 in the first round for a T34 position. He followed up with a 1-over-par 73 on the Ryder Course in round two. Proehl made the 36-hole cut by two strokes.

The final two rounds took place on the Wanamaker Course. Proehl recorded his lowest round of the tournament in round three with a 3-under-par 69. Following round three, Proehl sat at T17 (-4). Proehl finished the tournament with a 5-over-par 77 for a tournament total 1-over-par 289 for a T29 finish. His performance was good enough to edge Iowa PGA John Bermel for the Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year.

John Bermel finished T51 over the weekend missing the Senior PGA Championship cut by two-strokes. Bermel started his tournament with an even-par 72 on the Wanamaker Course, and followed up with a 1-under-par 71 on the Ryder Course to make the 36-hole cut. He carded a 2-over-par 74 in round three and a 3-over-par 75 in the final round for a tournament total 4-over-par 292.

Bryan Luedtke missed the 36-hole cut by two strokes after recording a 3-over-par 75 in the first round on the Ryder Course and 2-over-par 74 for a tournament total 5-over-par 149.  

The 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will take place May 21-26 at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
