The Iowa PGA has won three (3) National PGA Awards. Retired SGM Jim Dickerson, PGA won the 2014 Patriot Award, Mark Egly, PGA of Des Moines Driving Range won the 2024 Deacon Palmer and Iowa PGA Section won the 2024 Herb Graffi Award. What does winning the 2024 Herb Graffis Award mean to you?
I feel it’s a great honor for the Iowa Section PGA to be recognized for a National PGA of America Award. As a past president of the Iowa Section PGA and having served on our Board of Directors during a time when many of the Growth of the game initiatives began, it’s humbling to see our Section efforts recognized. I’m proud to be a member of our Iowa Section PGA.
It is a tremendous honor and long over due. We have The Best Section in the country. We have been so far ahead of every other Section in the Country for years. Look at all the programs that have started here in the Iowa Section and are now National programs. It truly is a testament to all of our previous Leaders that had the fore sight to come up with these fabulous programs. Not to mention our Golf in School program, Junior Academy and Junior Tour.
The Iowa PGA continues to develop a foundation of excellence by providing great Educational Programs, PGA Junior League, Veterans Programs and Section Events. I have been able to continue my education and career path from great mentors and my fellow PGA members. I am proud to be a part of a award winning PGA Section and will continue to grow the game of golf.
It shows our sections commitment and hard work to grow the game of golf at the Junior level as well as the Veteran level.
The Iowa PGA Section is full of fantastic members who go above and beyond to grow the game of golf and serve all of the enthusiastic golfers in the state. I am proud that our section earned the recognition that it deserves for all that the PGA Professionals do to enhance the lives of golfers in Iowa.
It is great to see the Iowa Section recognized for the hard work of the member professional’s past and present. There is a strong and tight nit golf community in the state and the Iowa PGA has been at the forefront of growing the game. I grew up in the state and participated in a number of these programs as a junior golfer.
I believe it is a reflection of the talent and commitment of the Iowa PGA section and its members to provide outstanding service to the golfing community.
The junior golf tournaments that the PGA Iowa Section puts together is something the kids can look forward to in our state. Keep these in the forefront so that this will continue.
