Montgomery wins NB Golf Cars/M&M Golf Cars October Shootout

Amana, Iowa – Ben Montgomery of Twin Pines Golf Course won the 2018 NB Golf Cars/M&M Golf Cars October Shootout today at the Amana Colonies Golf Club. This marks Montgomery’s first victory of the season. 

Montgomery started the day five strokes off the lead in a tie for fifth place. After a first round 1-under-par 71, Montgomery carded a bogey-free front nine with two birdies and added four birdies on the back for a 5-under-par 67 in the second round for a tournament total 6-under-par 138. Montgomery out lasted the likes of Darin Fisher and Sean McCarty for his first win of the season. 

Fisher started the second round T3 after a round one 2-under-par 70. He tallied six birdies in the second round, but had three bogeys, to shoot 3-under-par 69 for a two-day total of 5-under-par 139. McCarty started the first round with a four-stroke lead, but finished round two with a 3-over-par 75 for a tournament total 3-under-par 141. 

Bryan Luedtke and Chad Proehl tied for first in the Senior Division. Luedtke carded a 1-under-par 71 in the first round and a 2-over-par 74 in round two for a tournament total of 1-over-par 145. Proehl recorded 1-over-par 73 in yesterday’s round and responded with an even-par 72 in today’s round for a tournament total of 1-over-par 145.

Joe Butler of Burlington Golf Club won the Super Senior Division by eight strokes. Butler carded a 5-over-par 77 in round one and a 4-over-par 76 in round two for a two-day total of 9-over-par 153. This marks Butler’s second Super Senior Division win this season.
