Montgomery Wins 2018 Assistant Player of the Year

Riverside, Iowa – Iowa PGA Member, Ben Montgomery, has won the Iowa PGA 2018 Assistant Player of the Year award. Montgomery accumulated 1,066.67 points on the year to win the Assistant Player of the Year for the second straight year.

“Winning Assistant Player of the Year is one of my goals every year,” said Montgomery. “Anytime you can accomplish a goal it feels great and winning back to back feels even better. Especially in our section where we have so many good Assistants that play on a regular basis.”

Montgomery played in 13 Iowa PGA events this season. He finished atop the Assistants leaderboard five times, including the Mizuno 36-hole Classic, Pro-Scratch /Pro-Senior Scratch, Wild Rose Casino & Resort Pro-Am, Boys Scouts Pro-Am and the Pro-Senior. He also had a fifth-place finish at the Iowa Assistant PGA Professional Championship.

In addition to Montgomery’s victories in the Assistants Division, he also had three Open Division victories, including a win at the NB Golf Cars/M&M Golf Cars Shootout, and finished inside the top-10 in the Open Division at 10 events.

Montgomery has now won the Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year award twice (2018, 2017) in his career. He also has two second place finishes in the Assistant Player of the Year Award race (2016, 2015).
