McCoy, Schaake & Brown Tie After Round Two of the 88th Iowa Open-
Riverside, IA – Nate McCoy of Ankeny, Iowa, Alex Schaake of Omaha, Nebraska and Kade Brown of Marshalltown, Iowa tied after round two of the 88th Iowa Open presented by Riverside Casino and Golf Resort on Saturday, July 31 at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside. McCoy, Schaake and Brown all turned in a 13-under-par 131 to lead round two.
Matthew Meneghetti of Schererville, Indiana set the new Competitive Course Record at Blue Top with a round of 12 under-par 60. Meneghetti had an eagle on hole 4 and birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16 and 17 to set the record.
McCoy carded birdies on holes 4, 6, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 17 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 66-65=131. Schaake carded an eagle on hole 4; birdies on holes 1, 5, 12, 16 and 17 including a bogey on hole 8 with rounds of 65-66=131. Brown carded birdies on hole 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 with rounds of 66-65=131.
The cut for the Iowa Open was 147, three-over par. The cut for the Iowa Open – Senior Division was 144, even-par.
Jeff Schmid of Iowa City, Iowa leads the Pro Senior Division with birdies on holes 2, 4, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 18; bogeys on holes 6, 7 and 10. Schmid sits at 11-under-par, 65-68=133 after two days of the tournament. In second place Bryan Haas of North Liberty, Iowa and Host PGA Director of Golf at Blue Top Ridge had rounds of 70-65=136 and Bryan Luedtke of Galesburg, Illinois had rounds of 70-66=136 and both sit at 8-under-par after two days of the tournament.
McCoy leads the Open Amateur Division is led by 4 shots over 2021 3A IHSAA Boys State Champion Hogan Hansen of Waverly, Iowa as he turned in rounds of 68-67=135 to sit at 9-under-par 135 after two days of the tournament.
Open Senior Amateur Division is led by Joe Palmer of Norwalk, Iowa by turning in a 1-under-par 75. Palmer carded an birdie on hole 13; bogeys on hole 2 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 8. Palmer sits at 1-under-par 143 after two days of the tournament. Palmer was the only Senior Amateur to make the 36-hole cut.
The final round of the 88th Iowa Open takes place tomorrow at Blue Top Ridge. Groups will start off number 1 at 7:30. For final round tee times, click here.
