McCarty, Wernimont of Brown Deer win Pro-Assistant

Ankeny, IA — The team of Sean McCarty and Brian Wernimont of Brown Deer Golf Course won the 2018 Pro-Assistant event presented by Miller & Sons on Monday at the Briarwood Golf Club. The duo bested two Davenport County Club teams by four strokes to claim the victory.  

McCarty and Wernimont recorded a bogey-free round with eight birdies and an eagle on the par-5 third hole for a 10-under par, 62. They also captured the Pro-Pro event, prevailing over three other teams that finished at 7-under-par, 65 . The Brown Deer representatives took home both the Pro-Assistant and Pro-Pro purses, which was a total of $906.01.

Two Davenport Country Club teams finished T2. John Panek and Joshua Bousman carded a 6-under-par, 66. The team of Panek and Jared McClintock also recorded a 6-under-par 66 on the day. Three teams tied for fourth at 5-under-par, 67.

Three teams finished T2 in the Pro-Pro team event. The teams of Chad Callan of Briarwood Golf Club and Jay Giannetto of Elmwood Country Club, Ryan McClintock and Joshua Bousman of Davenport Country club, and McCarty and Mark Egly of Des Moines Driving Range also finished at 7-under-par, 65.
