Burlington, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Professionals defeated the Iowa Amateurs 24-16 in the 2018 Iowa Cup Matches at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington Iowa. This marks the third straight year the Iowa PGA Professionals have won the Iowa Cup Matches.
The Iowa PGA won 10 Singles Matches out right and halved one match on the final day of the Iowa Cup Matches. Four of the Iowa PGA Professional team members won all three of their matches over the last two days – Bryan Luedtke, Matt Erger, Judd Gibb and Steve Hutton.
Luedtke started the matches with a 3&2 win in Fourball yesterday morning. He followed up in the second matches with a 4&2 win during Foursome matches yesterday afternoon. He finished with a 5&4 win in his Singles match today, defeating Jeff Collett.
Erger won his Fourball match 1up and his Foursome match 2 up during yesterday’s sessions. He finished his 2018 Iowa Cup Matches with a victory over Brian Allison, 4&2.
Gibb claimed victories in both of his matches yesterday, winning his Fourball Match 2&1 and his Foursome Match 2up. He finished the matches with a 5&4 win over Scott Briggs in Singles matches.
Hutton also won all three of his matches during the 2018 Iowa Cup Matches. He won his Fourball match 4&2 and prevailed in his Foursome match 1up. His last match ended with a 2up victory over Jim Becker.
The final Single matches of the 2018 Iowa Cup Matches ended with the Iowa PGA winning 10.5 points, while the Amateurs won 9.5. Click here to view full results.
