Iowa PGA Players of the Year Giannetto, Castagnoli, Jennings, Soda And Low Scoring Average Jennings

Giannetto Wins 2025 Iowa PGA Player of the Year
Riverside, Iowa – Jay Giannetto of Elmwood Country Club has won the 2025 Iowa PGA Player of the Year with a total of 1,721.42 points. This marks back-to-back years of winning Iowa PGA Player of the Year award.

When asked Giannetto what winning the Iowa PGA Player of the Year meant to him, “I’m honored to have earned the 2025 Iowa PGA Player of the Year award. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family, our team, and the members at Elmwood Country Club.  A big thank you to the Iowa PGA and my fellow professionals for the camaraderie and competition that make our Section so special.”

Giannetto competed in 23 Iowa PGA events this season where PGA Player of the Year points were awarded. He finished 13 top five including wins at the Scouting America Pro-Am and Quakerdale Pro-Am.

Giannetto competed in the John Deere Classic on July 3-6, 2025, at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Giannetto’s 36-hole rounds were 73-73=146, 4-over-par.

The 2025 Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year is yet to be determined. The Senior Player of the Year will be announced following the completion of the Senior PGA Professional Championship, which takes place at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida on October 23-26, 2025.

The 2025 Iowa PGA Super Senior Player of the Year is yet to be determined after 10/26.

Castagnoli Wins 2025 Iowa PGA Legends Player of the Year
PGA Life Member Larry Castagnoli has won the 2025 Iowa PGA Legends Player of the Year with 1,205 points. This marks back-to-back years for Castagnoli has won the Iowa PGA Legends Player of the Year.

When asked Castagnoli what winning the Legends Player of the Year meant to him, “It’s so special to be recognized by the PGA of Iowa by winning in a newly formed Division that will only grow as time moves forward. As you age and you watch the young talent evolve, you appreciate what you were able to do in this game as seen through a “Senior Perspective.”

Castagnoli competed in 14 Iowa PGA events this season where Legends Player of the Year points were awarded. Castagnoli was the top Legends finisher in 36 Hole Classic, Junior Academy Senior Stroke Play Event, Scouting America Pro-Am, Pro-Junior, Quakerdale Pro-Am and Harris Golf Cars Pro-Facility.

Jennings Wins 2023 Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year and Low Scoring Average
Matt Jennings of Bos Landen Golf Course has won the 2025 Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year with 1,727.50 points. This marks Jennings first Assistant Player of the Year Award.

Jennings Wins the 2025 Iowa PGA Low Scoring Average with an average of 69.28 that was an average of 2.33 under par. This marks Jennings first Iowa PGA Low Scoring Average title.

When asked Jennings what winning the Women’s Player of the Year meant to him, “Winning these awards means a great deal to me because we have a section full of great players. I have wonderful support from my wife and family, along with my staff and co-workers at Bos Landen. I’m grateful to have these awards as a tangible recognition of the group effort it takes to achieve them.”

Jennings competed in 19 Iowa PGA events this season where Assistant Player of the Year points were awarded. Jennings had 19 top five finishes including wins in the Glen Oaks Pro-Am, 92nd Iowa Open, Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Junior vs. Senior Team Championship, Pro-Scratch/Pro-Senior Scratch, Pro-Senior and NB Golf Cars/M&M Golf Cars October Shootout.

Soda Wins 2025 Iowa PGA Women’s Player of the Year
Chelsea Soda of Echo Valley Country Club has won the 2025 Iowa PGA Women’s Player of the Year with 440 points. This is Soda’s first Iowa PGA Women’s Player of the Year.

When asked Soda what winning the Women’s Player of the Year meant to her, “It’s a great honor to be recognized as the Iowa PGA Women’s Player of the Year. I’m proud to represent our section and grateful to be part of such a strong and supportive group of women who continue to elevate the game.”

Soda competed in 2 Iowa PGA events this season where Women’s Player of the Year were awarded. Soda was the top Women’s finisher in Iowa PGA Professional Championship and Iowa Women’s PGA Professional Championship.

This is Soda’s first Iowa PGA Player of the Year award.
