Iowa Golf Association Lead Cup Matches After Day One-
Muscatine, Iowa – The Iowa Golf Association lead the Iowa Cup Matches 12 to 8 after day one at the Geneva Golf & Country Club. The final round will conclude tomorrow with singles matches starting at 8 a.m. Click here, for tee times for final round.
The morning started off with Four-Ball Matches. The Iowa PGA won five matches out right and halved one matches to grab a 5.5 to 4.5 lead in the morning. The first two Iowa PGA teams won their matches with Sean McCarty and Ryan McClintock defeating Sam Storey and J.D. Anderson, 4&3. Chad Callan and Jay Giannetto defeating Jon Olson and Kelly Brown, 5&4, giving the Iowa PGA Cup Matches points to start the tournament.
Davis Sutton and David Lawrence were defeated by Nick Luett and Dusty Stewart, 2&1. Sam Rice and Mark Atchison were defeated by Owen Sawyer and Max Tjoa, 6&5. Chris Black and Jacob Bermel were defeated by Nate McCoy and Danny McCoy, 3&2. Steve Hutton and Todd Fowler were defeated by Jeff Collett and Kirk Macumber, 4&3. That helped get the Iowa Golf Association
Ben Montgomery and Matt Erger tied with Logan Schweinefus and Justin Livingston, to give both teams, .05 points.
Darin Fisher and Zach Steffen defeating Levi Slings and Aaron O’Brien, 2&1. Bryan Luedtke and Tracy Vest defeating Jon Brown and Ethan Mechling, 2&1. Jeff Smith and Ken Schall defeating Ron Peterson and Tony Newkirk, 1up to secure the 5.5 to 4.5 lead for the Iowa PGA morning session.
The afternoon session featured Foursome (Alternate Shot) matches. The Iowa PGA won 7.5 points and The Iowa Golf Association won 2.5 points in the Foursome Play. Ben Montgomery and Davis Sutton defeated Aaron O’Brien and Dusty Stewart, 3&2. Steve Hutton and Ken Schall defeated Jeff Collett and Ron Pererson, 4&3.
Sean McCarty and Tracy Vest tied their match with Nate McCoy and Owen Sawyer to give both teams .05 points.
The teams of Chris Black and Darin Fisher, Jacob Bermel and Matt Erger, Bryan Luedtke and Sam Rice, Zach Steffen and Chad Callan, Mark Atchison and David Lawrence, Jay Giannetto and Ryan McClintock, Jeff Smith and Todd Fowler all lost their PM Matches. Heading into Friday’s Single Matches the Iowa Golf Association has 12 points to lead the Iowa PGA with 8 points.
