Giannetto/Proehl Tied for Eighth at Senior-Junior Team Championship

Port St. Lucie, Florida – Four Iowa PGA Members are competing in this week’s Senior-Junior Team Championship as part of the PGA Winter Championships. Jay Giannetto and Chad Proehl make up the first team from the Iowa Section, while Sean McCarty and Dave Ranney have paired up as the second Iowa PGA team.

Giannetto and Proehl are tied for eighth place following their 5-under-par 67 in round one on the Ryder Course. Following a bogey on the par-4 third hole, Giannetto and Proehl birdied three of their last six holes on the front nine. The duo remained solid after making the turn as they carded a bogey-free back nine with three birdies. Giannetto and Proehl will begin round two at 9:50 a.m. on the Wanamaker Course on Tuesday.

The second Iowa PGA team of McCarty and Ranney are tied for 44th after round one. The duo carded a bogey-free first round with birdies on the par-5 fifth hole and par-4 14th hole on the Dye Course for a 2-under-par 70. McCarty and Ranney are one stroke over the projected cutline heading into round two. They will begin their second round at 8:10 a.m. on the Ryder Course on Tuesday.

This 72-hole event is being played on the Wanamaker, Ryder, and Dye courses at the PGA Golf Club. The field will be cut to the low 40 teams and ties following round three on Wednesday.
