Fisher Leads Iowa PGA Professional Championship After Rd 2

West Des Moines, Iowa — Darin Fisher leads the 2018 Iowa PGA Professional Championship after 36-holes. The first two rounds were played today at Glen Oaks Country Club with a double shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The final round will take place tomorrow with groups teeing off of Nos. 1 and 10 starting at 8:00 a.m. Click here to view results and round three pairings. 

Fisher held a three-stroke lead after the first round. He carded a bogey-free front nine with five birdies for a 5-under-par 30. The 2016 Section Champion followed up with an even-par back nine to finish with a 5-under-par 66. He finished with a 1-under-par 70 in the second round, with four total birdies. Fisher currently sits atop the leaderboard at 6-under-par 136. 

John Bermel, Jeff Schmid, Sean McCarty and Chad Proehl were T2 entering the second round. All four Iowa PGA Members finished the first round at 2-under-par 69. 

McCarty and Proehl are T2, three-strokes off the lead, after round two. McCarty carded a bogey-free front nine with one birdie and added three more birdies on the back nine for a 1-under-par 70 in the second round. Proehl tallied two birdies on the back nine for a 1-under par 70. He and McCarty currently have a tournament total 3-under par 139.  
Judd Gibb is in fourth place after 36-holes. Gibb posted an even-par 71 in the first round and followed up with 1-under-par 70 in the second round. He carded a bogey-free front nine with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8-9, and a hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth hole.   

The Iowa PGA Professional Championship concludes tomorrow at the Glen Oaks Country Club. The top-5 finishers earn exemptions into the PGA Professional National Championship presented by Club Car and Omega at the Belfiar of Bluffton in South Carolina on April 28 – May 1, 2019. In addition to getting into the PGA Professional National Championship, the winner will earn an exemption into the 2019 John Deere Classic.
