2026 PGA Professional Championship Recap-
Bandon, Oregon – Five of our Iowa PGA Member competed in the 2026 PGA Professional Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon (April 26-29, 2026).
McCarty T21st place after the 72-hole championship.
Schmid T67th place after the 72-hole championship.
Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club, Jay Giannetto of Elmwood Country Club, Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club, Dillon Baker of Elev8 Golf Club and Ryan McClintock of Dubuque Golf & Country Club all competed in the PGA Professional Championship.
Thank you to Schmid, Giannetto, McCarty, Baker and McClintock for representing the Iowa PGA Section on the big stage.
Round 1
Schmid’s first round he carded birdies on holes 3 and 15 including a bogey on hole 13. His first-round total score of 70.
McCarty’s first round he carded birdies on holes 9, 15 and 18; bogeys on holes 5, 10 and 13 including a double bogey on hole 17. His first-round total score of 74.
Baker’s first round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 9 and 12; a bogey on hole 1 including double bogeys on holes 11 and 17. His first-round total score of 72.
McClintock’s first round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 4 and 13; bogeys on holes 8, 10, 15 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 5, 14 and 17. His first-round total score of 78.
Giannetto’s first round he carded birdies on holes 5, 7 and 14; bogeys on holes 1, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 13 including double bogeys on holes 3, 11, 15 and 16. His first-round total score of 83.
Round 2
Schmid’s second round he carded birdies on holes 9 and 10 including bogeys on holes 2, 6, 12 and 14. His second-round total score of 74.
McCarty’s second round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 4, 9 and 13 including bogeys on holes 6, 12, 15, 17 and 18. His second-round total score of 72.
Baker’s second round he carded birdies on holes 3, 8, 12 and 14; bogeys on holes 6 and 11 including double bogeys on holes 4 and 5. His two-day total scores were 72-75=147, 4-over-par.
Giannetto’s second round he carded birdies on holes 10 and 13; bogeys on holes 1, 2, 4, 9, 11 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 16. His two-day total scores were 83-78=161, 18-over-par.
McClintock’s second round he carded a birdie on hole 14; bogeys on holes 2, 13, 16, 17 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 3, 4, 5 and 6. His two-day total scores were 78-84=162, 19-over-par.
Baker, McClintock and Giannetto missed the projected cut of +2.
Round 3
McCarty’s second round he carded birdies on holes 13 and 17 including bogeys on holes 15 and 16. His third-round total score of 72.
Schmid’s third round he carded birdies on holes 2, 4 and 13 including bogeys on holes 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, 14 and 17. His third-round score of 76.
Final Round
McCarty’s four-day total score was 74-72-72-72=290, and finished T21st place.
Schmid’s four-day total score was 70-74-76-79=299, and finished T67th place.
