2025 Senior PGA Championship Recap-
Bethesda, Maryland – Three of our Iowa PGA Members competed in the 2025 Senior PGA Championship at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland (May 22-25, 2025). Schmid T58th place after the 72-hole championship.
Schmid, McCarty and Gibb were part of the Corebridge financial PGA Team Top 35 that will competed in the 2025 Senior PGA Championship.

Round 1
Schmid’s first round he carded birdies on holes 6 and 16. His first-round total score of 70.
McCarty’s first round he carded bogeys on holes 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 14. His first-round total score was 83.
Gibb’s first round he carded bogeys on holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 13, 17 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 10. His first-round total score was 83.
Round 2
Schmid’s second round he carded birdies on holes 9 and 14 including bogeys on holes 4, 8, 10 and 14. His second-round total score of 74.
McCarty’s second round he carded birdies on holes 11 and 12; bogeys on holes 5, 11 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 6. His second-round total score of 75.
Gibb’s second round he carded a birdie on hole 7; bogeys on holes 4, 6, 12, 13, 14, 17 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 1. His second-round total score of 80.
The projected 36-hole cut was +4. McCarty and Gibb fought hard.
Round 3
Schmid’s third round he carded birdies on holes 6 and 13; bogeys on holes 2, 4, 9, 14 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 17. His third-round score of 77.
Final Round
Schmid’s final round he carded bogeys on holes 2, 4, 7, 9 and 18. His four-day total scores was 70-74-77-77=298 and finished T58th place.
