TOURNAMENT MISSION

To provide a high quality competitive tournament that is looked at as the best event in golf in the state of Iowa for amateurs and professionals. This will be accomplished by playing at a world class venue, creating valuable partnerships within the community and raising money for local charities.

Payment Method:  All Credit Card payments must be made on-line.
Telephone and fax entries will not be accepted.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Started in 1927, the Iowa Open has been a Midwest golf championship with a long list of winners and participants that have shaped the game both in Iowa and around the country. Most famously, Zach Johnson is a 2-time winner of the event. Players like Mike McCoy, Mike Bender and Sean McCarty are all past winners as well. Administered by the Iowa PGA Section, the championship continues this long history of quality golf in the state of Iowa.

HOST FACILITY

Blue Top Ridge was designed by renowned architect of championship golf courses, Rees Jones. Blue Top Ridge combines everything that is expected of a championship golf course in the Midwest. Playing over 7,500 yards, Blue Top Ridge is rated by the USGA as the most difficult golf course in the state of Iowa. The scenic course lends itself to spectators with ample space for them to move around the golf course freely while combining great golf with great views.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

54-Hole Championship – August 4 – 6, 2023
The tournament is open to Professionals and Amateurs alike with a full field of 144 players. There will be an open, senior and super senior division with the winner of the open division taking home $25,000 (based on full-field of 144 players). The field is made up of players from all over Iowa as well as 10-15 different states.

ELIGIBILITY:

Amateur Eligibility:
1. Iowa resident Amateur.
2. Non-Iowa resident Amateur attending college full time in the state of Iowa.
3. USGA Handicap Index of 6.0 or less (HANDICAP WILL BE VERIFIED).

Professional Eligibility:
1. Iowa Section PGA Member or Apprentice in good standing.
2. Iowa resident non-PGA affiliated Professional.
3. Maximum of 40 spots may be filled with Professionals who reside outside the state of Iowa. A wait list will be formed following receipt of the first 40 non-resident professional entries. If a maximum field of 144 is not reached by the tournament deadline of, those on the wait list will be entered into the tournament based off receipt of entry until field is full.

Senior Eligibility:
1. Meet Amateur or Professional eligibility
2. Reached their 50th birthday by August 4th, 2023.

Super Senior Eligibility
1. Meet Amateur or Professional eligibility
2. Reached their 60th birthday by August 4th, 2023.

Note: The committee reserves the right to provide sponsor exemptions for those professionals residing outside the state who do not submit an entry in time to be included in one of the 40 designated spots. Letters of request must be submitted to the Iowa PGA.

Note this is a male only event

All Amateur entries must meet the requirements as defined by the United States Golf Association Rules of Amateur Status. Amateurs awaiting reinstatement to Amateur Status may compete but will not receive any prize money or gift certificates from the competition. Those awaiting reinstatement will be required to pay the Amateur entry fee.
