PGA Assistant Golf Professional

What was your motivation to become a PGA Professional?
I have wanted to be around golf ever since I started playing the game at the age of 12. I enjoy teaching and operating a business. I also enjoy all of the different people I get to meet on a daily basis.

What is your specialty in the golf business?
My specialty in the golf business would be operating a small business on all fronts including teaching, club repair, tournament operation and junior golf.

Please list any accomplishments (Awards, Certifications, and Tournaments.)
Obtained PGA Class A membership as an Apprentice through the PGA PGM Program. Captain of high school golf team.

What was your greatest moment in golf?
My greatest moment in golf would be watching my wife evolve into a skilled and successful golfer. Being promoted to Assistant Golf Pro from my employer was also a great moment – and of course, obtaining Class A Membership.

What or who has had the greatest impact on your career?

My wife Kandis for her continued support in a demanding industry. My brother Ryan for teaching me how to play. And my employer and mentor Jeff Smith, PGA and his wife Lori Smith.

Besides golf, what else do you enjoy?

I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, Iowa Hawkeye football games, and walking my dog Walter.

If you could play any golf course in the world, which one would it be and who would complete your foursome?
I would play Augusta National with my wife and brothers Ryan and Dave.

If you could give lessons to anyone in the world who would it be and what advice would you give?

Ben Hogan. I would not teach him much I’m sure, but I would love to watch him play and practice.

What is your favorite golf instruction tip?
The golf swing does not stop at the ball. To be successful in golf the player/golfer must swing through the ball with acceleration to a proper finish.
