Ames Golf & Country Club was formed in 1911. The renowned Donald Sechrest of Tulsa, Oklahoma, designed the 18-hole, 114-acre course in 1971. The golf course boasts lush fairways, tees and well-manicured greens irrigated and surrounded by a few small, well-positioned lakes. Also included are an ample practice and teaching facility and a large practice green. The golf shop, located in the lower level of the clubhouse, is managed by a PGA Golf Professional, and employs a professional staff. The golf shop offers only the highest quality merchandise at affordable prices, and is open daily during golfing season.

uegrass and ryegrass. hanks to our expert staff, the conditions are always second to none.

In Lewis and Clark’s time, the open meadows and steeply-pitched foothills that now play host to golfers in search of the perfect tee shot were silent, and our championship courses were still just a dream. Wild deer had sole claim to these valleys, and only the most adventurous traveler roamed the paths that wound through this pristine area.

Today, we delight in the exquisite landscape and the company of good friends as we enjoy the beauty of St. Albans. With a careful hand and meticulous attention to the natural beauty of the land, a premier gathering place is nestled in the rich historical path of Lewis and Clark.

The Country Club of St. Albans offers two distinctive 18-hole courses to appease all levels of players: Lewis & Clark and Tavern Creek. Course planners utilized the natural creeks, gentle slopes and dramatic terrain changes to craft the courses and add definition to each hole. Both courses are appropriately rated in the Top 10 in Missouri by Golf Digest.

Lewis and Clark Course:
Created first in honor of the legendary explorers, the 18-hole, par 72 Lewis and Clark Course was crafted by the highly acclaimed design team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. A traditional links course, the Lewis and Clark Course has played host to an impressive array of tournaments since its opening in 1992, including the Metro Amateur Golf Championships, the Missouri Women’s Amateur Golf Championship, the Missouri State Amateur Golf Championships, the prestigious Missouri Cup Matches, the St. Louis Men’s District Championship, the USGA Men’s State Team Championship and the USGA US Open Sectional Qualifier.

Tavern Creek Course
Opened in 1997, the par 71 Tavern Creek Course spans 160 exquisite acres and was designed by famed course architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. Picturesque, rock-lined creeks present dramatic holes around every bend, and twelve of the eighteen holes involve uniquely challenging play around creeks, streams or ponds. To remind golfers of the rich historical significance surrounding the grounds they play on, five fully preserved Civil War-era graves are nestled throughout the course.
