The Iowa PGA Section Announces 2016 Special Award Winners

allstarprogolfThe Iowa PGA Section recently announced the winners of the 2016 Iowa PGA Special Awards. These awards are held each year with nominees submitted by the Iowa PGA membership and selected by the Iowa PGA Awards Committee.  They recognize excellence in twelve areas of the PGA member’s profession. At the conclusion of the year’s tournament schedule, the Iowa PGA Section will also award a Player of the Year for four distinguished divisions, PGA, Senior PGA, Super Senior PGA and Assistant. A special luncheon sponsored by All Star Pro Golf will be held Tuesday, October 25th at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort to honor the Iowa PGA Section winners, the Iowa PGA Player of the Year award winners and the Junior Tour Player of the Year award winners.

John is the Head PGA Pro at Glynns Creek Golf Course in Long Grove, IA.

The Golf Professional of the Year Award is the highest honor paid to an Iowa PGA Golf Professional. The honoree is chosen based on leadership abilities that stand above the rest, contributions made to their facility’s success, and excelling as an overall golf professional at the Iowa PGA Section level. John has been the Head Golf Professional at Glynns Creek for almost 25 years and a PGA Member for 28 years. John has been a positive influence for both PGA Members and amateurs alike throughout the Quad Cities area and the entire state of Iowa. 

Throughout his career, John has won numerous awards within the Iowa PGA Section and been a model citizen within his community. John has been a valuable asset to the Iowa PGA Section as well.  Serving on the Board of Directors on three separate occasions, the executive board the past 5 years, and was elected President of the Iowa PGA Section in October of 2015. He has been heading the Strategic Plan Committee and other important pieces vital to the success of the Iowa PGA and its members for the future. Congratulations to a well deserved 2016 Iowa PGA Golf Professional of the Year, John Valliere.

Dave Brostrom named 2016 Iowa PGA Distinguished Service Award Recipient
The Iowa PGA is also excited to announce the 2016 Distinguish Service Award Winner is Dave Brostrom, a longtime friend, supporter and sponsor of section professionals, programs and staff.  Dave and All Star Pro Golf have sponsored the Special Awards Luncheon for over 25 years. Dave is recognized for his service, contributions and support of game of golf and leadership in his community.   The Iowa PGA Distinguished Service Award was created to honor outstanding individuals, as well as organizations, for their contributions and service to the game of golf and for inspiring others. Recipients are selected for their display of leadership, integrity, volunteering, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf. 

The Iowa PGA Section is one of 41 PGA of America sections across the country. It is a non-profit association consisting of qualified golf professionals, promoted to elevating the image of the PGA and its members, providing educational and playing opportunities, as well as perpetuating employment opportunities for its members. Formed in 1936, the Iowa PGA Section enjoys a rich heritage of promoting interest, participation, and enjoyment in the game of golf. Activities have grown to include not only professional events, but junior and amateur competitions as well. Iowa PGA Section membership includes approximately 250 golf professionals employed at 123 facilities throughout Iowa and western Illinois.
