Golf has $817 million impact in Iowa

The Iowa Golf Council, which is a partnership of the Iowa Golf Association, Iowa Section PGA & Iowa Golf Course Superintendents Association, recently commissioned a study on the economic impact of golf in the state of Iowa. The study, which began in late 2016 using 2015 data, was completed in early 2017 and found that golf in Iowa has an economic impact of $817.5 million.  The game employs 11,435 individuals amounting to $280.2 million in compensation and accounted for $72 million in state and local taxes.  You can view the entire Economic Impact Report here. Five Elected to the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame “Class of 2017”

The Iowa Golf Association is pleased to announce the election of five new members to the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame. John Ausen of Urbandale, Rick Brown of Pleasant Hill, Jerry Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, Emil Roewert (deceased) and Brad Schuchat of Lakewood Ranch, FL will be inducted as the “Class of 2017” at a date to be determined. 2016 John Deere Classic Pre-Qualifier Results

The 2016 John Deere Classic Pre-Qualifier was held at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois and Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City, Iowa on Thursday, August 4.  The low forty and ties will advance to the Event Qualifier to be held at the same location on Monday, August 8th.  PGA Tour Members, Champions Tour Members, and Nationwide Tour Members who are not in the tournament field will also be eligible to compete in the Event Qualifier on Monday.  The low four finishers at the Event Qualifier will qualify for the 2016 John Deere Classic to be contested at TPC [...]

Congratulations Nicholas Higgins – 2016 Burkart Winner!

Congratulations to Nicholas Higgins!2016 Charlie Burkart Scholarship Recipient! Nick grew up in Fairfield, IA and attended Fairfield High School where he played golf and placing 7th place at state, First Team All-State, Second Team All-State, and 2-time Southeast Conference individual champion. Beginning in the fall of 2016, he will attend Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Florida where he plans to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in PGA Golf Management.
