Ryan Cole Wins The 88th Iowa Open-
Riverside, IA – Ryan Cole of Glen Allen, Virginia is the 88th Iowa Open Champion presented by Riverside Casino and Golf Resort on Sunday, August 1 at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside. Cole’s 3-day total was 65-69-63=197, -19. Cole’s final round included an eagle on hole 4; birdies on holes 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 12, 14, 17 and 18 including bogeys on holes 6 and 16 as he fired a 9-under-par round of 63.
Runner-up Matthew Meneghetti of Schererville, Indiana turned in a 3-day total of 72-60-67=199, -17. Kade Brown of Marshalltown, Iowa was in third place with rounds of 66-65-69=200, -16.
Jeff Schmid of Iowa City, Iowa won the Iowa Open – Senior Division with a final round 4-under-par 68. Schmid had birdies on holes 3, 4, 5, 12, 14 and 15; bogeys on holes 8 and 10. Schmid’s 3-day total was 65-68-68=201, 15-under-par. Runner-up was Bryan Luedtke of Galesburg, Illinois with a 3-day total of 70-66-70=206, +2.
Nate McCoy of Ankeny, Iowa wins the Iowa Open – Amateur Division with a final round of one-over-par 73 with birdies on holes 4, 7, 12 and 17 including bogeys on holes 1 and 6. McCoy’s 3-day total was 66-65-70=201, -15. Runner-up was the 2021 3A IHSAA Boys State Champion Hogan Hansen of Waverly, Iowa 3-day total of 68-67-73=208, -8.
Joe Palmer of Norwalk, Iowa wins the Iowa Open – Amateur Senior Division with final round of even-par 72 with birdies on holes 3, 7 and 12; bogeys on holes 10, 14 and 18. Palmer’s 3-day total rounds of even-par, 68-75-72=215. He was the only Amateur Senior to make the final round cut.
Marshall Gavre of Fairfield, Iowa had a hole in one on #14 using a gap wedge with 130 yards! This is his 10th hole in one.
